Artist Bio – Catriona Smith (emiRaven)
Curiosity is the driving force behind my work. I'm a multidisciplinary artist with a passion for history, healing, and culture, constantly exploring how these elements intersect within the present moment. Guided by my intuition, I find inspiration in the stories of the past, the solitude of nature, and the silent whispers of my ancestors. My creative journey is an act of listening—observing life, asking questions, and seeking understanding through various mediums.
My work spans across photography, video, recycled materials, painting, piano, ceramics, and drawing. These diverse forms allow me to engage with the present, examine the past, and reflect on life itself. I believe in the power of art to connect us with deeper truths, whether through a well-timed photograph, a thoughtfully created ceramic piece, or the sound of a piano. I am always learning and seeking answers to questions that may never be revealed.
Alongside my formal education in visual art, ceramics, piano, psychology, business, fitness, and hospitality I have also pursued studies in mythology, videography, graphic design, and music video.
Throughout my artistic career, I have had the opportunity to showcase my work in exhibitions and gain recognition for my unique approach. Notable exhibitions include:
2024: Limitless, Cert. 3 Visual Arts Group Exhibition, Cairns
2024: NEW, Crate 59 Group Exhibition, Cairns
2022: Presenting emiRaven, ArtView Gallery Featured Artist, Cairns
2020: Alice in a Daydream, Brother Jenkins Postcard Exhibition, Cairns
2014: Mitchell Photography Competition, Highly Commended
I believe that art is a passageway—one that allows me to express and explore my inner world, connecting with others through a shared understanding of beauty, mystery, and healing.
